INTERVIEW

  • From Greece

Fascinated by Japanese culture and language, he came to Japan in 2024 with the goal of becoming fluent in Japanese. Before that, he worked in the hospitality industry in Greece and the UK, including cafes and hotels. He decided to seek employment in Japan to work while experiencing the language and culture first-hand.

The reason he chose THE APOLLO is because it is a Greek restaurant, and as a fellow Greek he felt a connection to work there. Furthermore, after learning that the Transit Group operates many different types of restaurants, he felt it would be an environment where he could grow, which led him to join the company. As he switched from a student visa to the Specified Skilled Worker (i) visa, he has expanded his role, not only as a service staff member, but also as a bartender. Although he struggles with the difficulty of the Japanese language, he continues to grow every day with the support of those around him. His motto is to take "one step at a time".

    Message to applicants:
Living and working in Japan can certainly be challenging, but it can help you improve and grow as a person if you keep an open mind. I recommend learning basic Japanese before coming to Japan.

  • From Indonesia

Before coming to Japan in 2023, she was working in the marketing industry, specializing in the gaming field. However, her interest in both the culture and language of Japan inspired her to leave her hometown, seeking a new experience. While studying in Japan, she worked part-time at Guzman y Gomez Aoyama. Drawn to the warmth of her colleagues she met and wanting to further improve her Japanese, she decided to join the Transit Group as a full-time employee.

She is currently working as a member of reception staff at Hills House Dining33, where she handles reservations, phone and email inquiries, and guiding guests. While serving customers in Japanese and multitasking is challenging, she finds it very rewarding when customers feel they have had a wonderful time. In the future, she hopes to use her experience to support foreigners who also want to work in Japan.

    Message to applicants:
Many people hesitate to start because they lack confidence or worry about adapting to the work culture. Instead of waiting for the perfect opportunity, it is better to take the first step and begin. Growth comes through experience, and you may discover opportunities you never expected. Sometimes, simply starting is what opens the door to where you are meant to be.
